LIU Junsheng


Junsheng Liu, Ph.D. is a professor at the School of Psychology and Cognitive Science, East China Normal University (ECNU). He is the Director of the Center for Child Psychology and Behavioral Development, ECNU; the Deputy Director of the Research Centre for Safeguarding and Well-being of Minors in Educational Settings, ECNU; and the Deputy Director of the Shanghai Key Laboratory of Child Brain and Development. Dr. Liu has received a Shuguang Scholar Award, a Shanghai Pujiang Scholars Award, and several other academic awards for his scientific work. He has served as the Member of the Mental Health Advisory Committee for Students, Ministry of Education, China; the Vice Chair of the Committee on School Bullying and Violence Prevention and Intervention, Chinese Psychological Society; the Committee Member of the Developmental Psychology Division, Chinese Psychological Society; the Executive Council Member of the Educational Psychology Division, Chinese Society of Education; and the Vice President & Secretary-General of Shanghai Psychological Society.

Additionally, Dr. Liu has also served as an associate editor for the journal Social Development, and an editorial board member of the Journal of Youth and AdolescenceJournal of Research on AdolescenceJournal of Applied Developmental PsychologyJournal of Psychological Science (Chinese)Journal of Bio-Education (Chinese). His primary research interest is in Children’s and Adolescents’ socioemotional functioning and social relationships from a contextual-developmental perspective. Dr. Liu’s research has been funded by federal agencies and private foundations, including the National Science Foundation of China, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of China. He has published a number of articles in major journals such as Child DevelopmentDevelopmental Psychology, and Developmental Science and book chapters concerning children’s social behaviors and peer relationships, and parental socialization practices.
