GAO Xiaoxue



 Xiaoxue GAO is a principal investigator (PI) in the School of Psychology and Cognitive Science at East China Normal University. Her lab is dedicated to social cognitive neuroscience research, combining behavioral tests, computational modeling, and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to investigate the psychological, computational and neural mechanisms underlying the generation and abnormalities of social emotions (e.g., gratitude, guilt, etc.) and related social decision-making (e.g., help-seeking decisions, inequity aversion) in humans. Her work has been published in high-profile academic journals such as Nature Communications, Nature Reviews Psychology, and PNAS. She has been selected for the Young Elite Scientists Sponsorship Program by China Association for Science and Technology, and is the principal investigators of the General Program and Youth Program (C Class) of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and an Excellent Young Team Project supported by the Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities. She is currently serving as Associate Editor for Journal of Psychological Science.
